Alipay Tap Debuts in Macao

Sands China, in collaboration with Macau Pass and Alipay, has introduced the cutting-edge Alipay Tap payment service across 300 merchants in its integrated resorts, including The Venetian Macao, The Parisian Macao, The Londoner Macao, and Sands Macao, reports PaySpace Magazine.

Alipay Tap simplifies the in-store payment experience by allowing users with NFC-enabled phones to make secure, contactless transactions without opening the Alipay app or scanning QR codes. For users with the small-amount password-free feature enabled, payments are finalized instantly. Otherwise, a password is required to complete the transaction.

Already available in over 100 Chinese cities since July 2024, Alipay Tap’s expansion into Macao brings seamless payment experiences to tourists and residents alike, covering hotel stays, dining, shopping, and more. The service supports a single terminal setup, catering to various e-wallets. To encourage adoption, Mainland Chinese tourists using Alipay Tap at Sands Resorts Macao can enjoy special promotions like exclusive first-use coupons and cross-border travel deals.

This initiative is part of a broader mission to support Macao’s smart city development and enhance digital connectivity within the Greater Bay Area. As a special administrative region, Macao’s commitment to modernizing its infrastructure includes integrating digital payment platforms, developing AI-powered tourist tools, and implementing intelligent traffic systems.
