BNY is accelerating its enterprise AI strategy by integrating Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise into Eliza, its proprietary agentic AI platform. The move is designed to expand employee access to advanced AI agents capable of automating data-intensive tasks such as financial document analysis and historical trend evaluation. Through the integration, BNY employees will be able to build and deploy AI agents that streamline research and analytics workflows, enabling faster insight generation and improved decision-making across the organization.
According to BNY Chief Data and AI Officer Sarthak Pattanaik, the partnership strengthens Eliza’s core capabilities by enhancing agentic research, improving secure data integration, and delivering a more intuitive user experience. The goal, he said, is to give employees greater capacity to embed deeper analysis and strategic thinking into their daily client work.
The initiative reflects a broader push across the financial services industry to scale AI adoption beyond isolated pilots. During an October earnings call, CEO Robin Vince noted that BNY had 117 AI solutions in production by the end of the third quarter—an increase of 75% from the previous quarter. These solutions span use cases including business lead identification, software development, payment processing, and other operational tasks.
BNY is also advancing the use of agentic AI as “digital employees.” More than 100 AI agents are already operating alongside staff, supporting functions such as payment validation and code remediation. Vince emphasized that the firm views AI as a major growth opportunity and is moving quickly to capture its value. Despite growing adoption, enterprise AI deployments continue to face challenges. Industry research shows that many organizations still lack mature governance frameworks, and employee training on compliance and responsible AI use often lags behind implementation efforts.
In this area, BNY has emerged as a leader. Analyst firm Evident Insights recently ranked the bank among the top 10 global institutions for AI transparency, recognizing its investments in responsible AI practices and governance. BNY describes Eliza as a centralized, secure “single pane of glass” for AI oversight—providing employees with access to approved data sources, tools to build custom agents, and built-in mechanisms for transparency, auditability, and accountability.
