Rappi, one of Latin America’s most prominent super-apps, has partnered with global digital wallet provider AstroPay to roll out the region’s first wallet-on-file integration, reports PaySpace Magazine. The launch, now available in Argentina, Brazil, and Peru, marks a major milestone in the evolution of digital payments across Latin America’s fast-growing mobile-first economies.
The integration allows users to set up and store a digital wallet directly within the Rappi platform. Unlike traditional card-based systems, the new solution enables seamless transactions without the need to re-enter payment details for every purchase. Wallet balances can be funded through local bank transfers, instant payments, or other supported methods.
One of the most notable features is AstroPay’s built-in real-time currency conversion. This functionality simplifies cross-border payments for Rappi’s users, who can make international purchases with just one tap, regardless of the currency in their wallet. For Rappi, the system offers lower processing costs, fewer chargebacks, and higher conversion rates, positioning the super-app ahead of competitors still tied to legacy card infrastructure.
The move comes at a time when Latin America’s cross-border payment market is expanding at an impressive 47% annually, fueled by freelance growth and global e-commerce demand. By embedding AstroPay’s wallet, Rappi is strengthening its role not just as a service marketplace but also as a financial hub for millions of users.
As part of the rollout, early adopters linking their AstroPay wallet to Rappi will receive cashback incentives and additional in-app benefits. The integration is expected to expand to more countries throughout 2025. With this partnership, Rappi and AstroPay are reshaping digital commerce in Latin America, bridging everyday services with a streamlined payments ecosystem.
